The new monthly freebie from SF Design (male and female versions available) is a gorgeous, snuggly-warm red duffle jacket. Mar decided to wrap up warm and head off to Toggenburg sim for some winter fun!

A passion for *Pash*

Brr! There’s snow on the ground here in Blighty, Mar’s wrapped up in her winter woollies, and there’s no doubt about it: she’s beginning to feel festive. It was about time a Christmas tree made its way into her skybox, and she found a lovely one being offered FREE, courtesy of *Pash* and Singh’s Bunnies, at the *Pash* store. If you head over to snag this tree (it rezzes large, but is resizeable, and comes in both blinging and non-blinging versions) then make sure you check out the rest of the store, too. You’ll find all sorts of lovely things, and at fabulous prices, including furnished skyboxes for just a Linden or two!

Magika Hair at The Gnubie Store

Ladies, there is new free hair available at The Gnubie Store, courtesy of Sabina Gully of Magika. Three styles in all the main colours you could want (plus a couple of brights), and one of the styles includes a gorgeous snuggly woolly cap that would be perfect for SL’s winter months!

Multi-purpose post! SF Design’s November freebie, dollarbie capris, plus a shoe-colouring tutorial

Phew! Talk about cramming stuff into one post! OK, let’s begin with the clothing first.

SF Design has a new freebie out for November: the snuggly-warm Cable Knit Sweater and Scarf in a lovely autumnal green. There is a free version in both the ladies and gents sections of the store, so boys don’t forget to pick up one for yourself!

Mar has teamed that sweater with a great dollarbie bargain from SL Marketplace: Double F’s Capris and Capri Shorts in Midnight. You’ll get two lengths in the pack: classic capris, and shorts.

Finally, Mar’s shoes are from the free Monochrome Classic Pumps set, by Plausible Body. She’s actually wearing the white pair here, but has used a nifty little freeware program to help her colour-match them exactly to the SF Design sweater. Hop behind the cut to see how to do that!

Useful gadgets #1 – The Bright Packer

I’ve been meaning to do a series about useful gadgets in Second Life for some time now, and since I’ve been spending a while doing some inventory-sorting and archiving today, I was making use of one really great freebie gadget, and thus the post series was born! These will all be freebies or very cheap items. Any pricier gadgets that I blog about will go onto my Ponderings blog (check the sidebar of this blog for a feed from there).

My first featured useful gadget is the Bright Packer. It’s a freebie, available from Bright Corporation (SLurl*) (Marketplace link) and it’s a script that you place into a prim containing items you want to sell/give away/archive. It enables you to unpack that box anywhere, without needing to rez it on the ground. This is really handy if you want to open an archive box to remove something from it, and you’re in a location that doesn’t allow rezzing, or you want people to be able to unpack a box in your store but you don’t permit rezzing there.

How does it work? Simple: it appends the words ‘(Wear to unpack)’ to the end of the box’s name, and you simply do that. Right-click it in inventory, select ‘Wear’ and it will immediately offer you a folder containing everything in it. And the best thing? You don’t even need to take it off again; it ‘unwears’ itself!

Dia de los Muertos hunt at The Gentlemen Bastards

Spooky freebies are to be had at The Gentlemen Bastards up to and including November 5th. The Dia de los Muertos Hunt is running there until then, featuring skins from RP Box, builds from Domicile, and other creepy items. There are pumpkins scattered all over the place, across the two stores, but only some of them have prizes in them. If you get stuck, click the big pumpkin on the straw bales by the entrance for some hints. A new prize will be put out every day (and the old prizes will remain out, too) until the hunt is over.

Here’s the gift for day 1. It’s a fabulous Baron Samedi skin by RP Box. The outfit that Mar’s cobbled together for it is a mish-mash of all kinds of old things, so I’m afraid I can’t give you locations where to get the items. Sorry about that!

A Halloween gifty from Truth Hair

Ladies, go slap the Subscribe-o-matic at Truth Hair (and if you’ve not already joined, then hit ‘Subscribe’). Slap it again and click ‘History’, then look for the notice dated October 28th. Click the relevant numbered button, and (after some considerable lag, as the store is heaving right now) you’ll be sent a package. Head for a less busy place to open it, and inside you’ll find eight bright colours of Truth’s Cleo hair, together with a further eight (same) colours in streaked versions.

Mar’s modelling the ‘Fire’ colour here, together with a lovely Houndstooth jacket from the L$1 closing sale at [AV] – see my previous post for details of that!

Autumn freebies!

Two lovely autumnal gifts have hit the grid over the past couple of days. SF Design‘s October freebie in-store is the snuggly Wrap Up Knitted Jacket in sienna. There’s one in both the ladies and menswear stores, so guys you can get your Starsky on, too ;)

The great thing about these designs is they come with both a script-resize belt and lower part and also manually-resizable versions. So, no matter what your level of experience when it comes to fiddling with and fitting prims, you’re good-to-go!
